Back in the early 90's I was stationed in Baton Rouge in the Marines.
There was a gym called Foxy's, THE MOST COMPLETE UNBELIEVABLE GYM I'VE EVER SEEN.
Basketball courts, handball, racquetball, 3 huge sections for training, you name it, ALL UNDER ONE ROOF!!!
I was training with 3 other guys I just met there doing squats.
Me and 2 others were doing back squats, while the one guy, named James Bell, was doing front squats.
We all started out with 225 for 10-15 for warm ups.
Remember, I said James was doing front squats to parallel!
I was kinda impressed but nothing I had not seen before. I could do 8-10 reps.
Then we went to our work sets, 315 x 4 sets.
The 3 of us did 8-12 reps, James, however 2 sets of 315 for 12 REPS, FRONT SQUATS !! PARALLEL stepping out of the squat rack !!
NOW I'm tripping! I'm looking at the other 2 and one knew James and told me I hadn't seen nothing, I should see him doing back squats!
Well, I was blown away at that time, in awe just sitting there looking at this guy walk up to the bar with his arms fully extended in front on him like a forklift to a pallet.
Are you ready for this, we stopped at 315, BUT NOT JAMES !!!
This guy loaded 405 and proceeded to blast out 3 SETS OF 8 PARALLEL OF FRONT SQUATS!!!!!!!!!
NOW I'M GONE MENTALLY!!!
DID I MENTION JAMES WAS ONLY 5'10" 192 LBS, WITH MAYBE 6-8% !!!!
QUADS LIKE TREE TRUNKS, 18" GUNS, NEEDLY TO SAY WE BECAME TRAINING PARTNERS AND HE HELPED ME SET MY BENCH PR OF 375 @ 185, I was a bodybuilder.
He said his pr for back squats was 715 and bench 425.
Not hard to believe, BUT FRONT SQUAT 405 3 sets of 8 !!!
INSANE ENUFF 4 U ?!!!
