The Jay Cutler Profile
This Jay Cutler profile was written shortly after he won the bodybuilding competition to become Mr. Olympia 2006.
After years of finishing in the runner-up position for the ultimate title in bodybuilding, Jay Cutler finally defeated 8-time winner Ronnie Coleman!
It can be very demoralizing to fall just short of your ultimate goal so many times, but Jay showed what he was made of by picking himself up and dusting himself off time and time again until he finally won. That reminds me of my favorite inspirational quote, The Man in the Arena.

The Jay Cutler profile begins at his birth in Worcester, Massachusetts on August 3, 1973. Jay was the youngest of seven children and he had an active childhood. He liked to ride his bike and play hide and seek, like most children. He worked on his family farm while growing up and later in his brother’s concrete business, which no doubt influenced the powerful physique he would soon develop.
Jay graduated from High School in 1991 and then earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from the local community college in 1993. It was during his time in college that he began bodybuilding.
In a year, at the age of 19, Jay Cutler won the Teen Nationals. It was only his first contest! Shortly afterward, he began to train with the goal of turning pro. A major turning point in the Jay Cutler profile occured in 1994 when Jay met Bruce Vartanian, who was a local bodybuilder and business owner. Bruce taught him how to be the best bodybuilder he could be. Chris Aceto was his diet mentor, and together with Bruce and Jay, they built a super-bodybuilder.
Jay Cutler won the 1996 National bodybuilding competition and earned pro status. Many different companies offered contracts, but Jay signed with Joe Weider.
Taking 1997 off to perfect his physique, Jay Cutler trained extremely hard for the 1998 Night of Champions in New York City. After all that hard work, Jay only placed 11th. Jay refocused his efforts and prepared for the 1999 season. He finished 3rd at the Ironman, and 4th at the Arnold Classic to start the season. Riding that wave of success he prepared for his first shot at the Mr. Olympia crown. Jay Cutler finished a disappointing 15th. He just kept working hard and preparing to do better in 2000.
The winds of change started to blow during this part of the Jay Cutler profile. In the year 2000 Jay won the Night of Champions bodybuilding contest and went on to finish a respectable 8th at the Mr. Olympia.
He followed that up by finishing second to Ronnie Coleman, the three-time winner of the Olympia, in both the Italian and English Grand Prix.
In 2001 Jay finished a controversial 2nd place to Ronnie Coleman in the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competition and started his unprecedented string of runner-up placings in that contest. During that time of the Jay Cutler profile, he became one of the most popular, and financially rewarded bodybuilding professionals in the game.
Finally, after much frustration and perseverance, Jay Cutler beat Ronnie Coleman and became Mr. Olympia 2006! We don’t know how long his reign will go on, but for this year at least, Jay Cutler is on top of the world.
